The NSPCC is looking for intrepid Surrey explorers willing to take part in a challenge with a difference.
‘Chasing the Sun’ involves a bike ride, hike, and canoe in the stunning surroundings of the Lake District, all between sunrise and sunset.
Taking place on Saturday, May 30, 2015, the challenge starts at the crack of dawn with a 25 mile mountain-bike stage through the Grizedale Forest. This is followed by a three-mile kayak on Lake Coniston and a trek up and down the legendary peak of the Old Man of Coniston.
Katherine Potter, NSPCC Community fundraiser for Surrey said: “This is an exciting event in some of the most picturesque surroundings in the UK. It’s quite different from other fundraising activities as it offers the opportunity to participate in a variety of events, which I hope will appeal to a range of people. Hiking, kayaking and cycling are some of the best ways to explore the Lake District too!
“I would urge anyone who fancies a challenge with a difference to sign up so that we can continue to raise vital funds for our local services which offer a lifeline to children and young people in Surrey.”
The event is designed for teams of two, but individual registrations are also accepted. To register or find out more visit: www.nspcc.org.uk/chasingthesun or call 0844 892 1119.
