SURREY optical and audiological professionals across Surrey have joined together in support of the annual Specsavers Surrey Youth Games.
As the name Sponsor of the event through its organiser, Active Surrey, the county’s opticians for eight years have donated an array of equipment, sports clothing, and the like in support of the day.
The Games are for children and teenagers aged 7-16 who live or go to school in Surrey.
All the classes are for entry level and all abilities are welcome. The annual day of sport, summer and festivities is a culmination of the partnership between the Surrey professionals and Active Surrey.
The weekend saw Surrey Sports Park in Guildford turn into an arena sporting excellence and participation where a wide array of sports was being played.
Popular sports such as Touch-Rugby, Boxing and Basketball could be found throughout the day whilst more niche sports such as fencing, and Boccia were also prevalent during the weekend ensuring that there were activities for everybody on the day.
The day also consisted of fun-filled family festival with a plethora of free activities such as football, circus skills, wall climbing, skateboarding, even hover ball archery.
Speaking on behalf of the local opticians, optical and audiological store director, James Sawyer said: ‘Specsavers’ stores across Surrey are proud to be the name sponsors of Active Surrey’s Surrey Youth Games.
“Since 2017 we have worked with Active Surrey, and it has been a pleasure every step of the way. Their mission to encourage healthy, active lifestyles for our younger generation through grassroots sports was something that we could not ignore. We have enjoyed every second spent helping them achieve this.
Specsavers stores across Addlestone, Banstead, Camberley, Caterham, Cranleigh, Cobham, Dorking, Egham, Epsom, Farnham, Godalming, Guildford, Leatherhead, Redhill, Reigate, Staines, and Woking, have been supporting the charity for many years supporting not only the inaugural day of sport every summer, but also with the other events and an initiative that the charity hosts.
James continued: “To see first-hand how our continued support brings joy and excitement to the community is hard to put in words. Seeing the Specsavers Surrey Youth Games once come to life is always a spectacular experience everyone needs to see.”

The store is now open seven days a week: 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
